A Weekend for Girls

Julie initiated a girls weekend about 4 months ago. It takes that much time for all of us to find a time that works. But the Gillespie girls got together this weekend and had a great girl party! Julie and Kelly LOVED my table decor.
Mom was a bit obsessed with Steph's toes, it was so funny! We were glad to be able to have Mom with us!
After a slumber party we went for pedicures at Spicy Nails. It was awesome!
Kelly giggled up a storm when they worked on her feet!
On Saturday evening we had all the families come and enjoy having Kim and Julie in town. It is nice to still enjoy being outside! Thanks to Dad for letting us all come.
Claire was funny in the big chair watching T.V. and the little girls did stickers with Grandma.
This weekend was such proof to me that my family does not have to have any specific plans and yet we just love being together, what a great weekend!

Pool Time Summer Fun!

Horton's, Larsen's and Gillespie's came over to swim today and it was so much fun!
The kids jumped in the pool and we started to have the barking Olympics. The number of points you earned was based on how many times Hades barked when you jumped in. The highest score was 9 barks!
Saige and Matt relaxed in the sun...
 and Quincey dried Hades off.
When Claire got to the pool she was so sleepy. She just relaxed in a chair and ate chips, so cute!

I took these pictures of her and Hades, they were so cute together. The kids wore Hades out!
What a great day!

Donut Falls, Spruce Campground, and the Road

This morning I hiked Donut Falls, as Deah and I headed up the canyon there were so many runners and bikers on the road as well. I told Deah I would never run on the side of this road, it is way too dangerous!
The hike to to the falls was beautiful and very busy. It was nice to see so many families hiking together...
The hike was beautiful, but not very long so we hiked a trail called "Spruce Trail". We did not know where were were going so we asked another hiker where the trail lead and he said to Spruce. I have no idea what he meant. A girl with him clarified and said the Spruce Campground. I was laughing because there were Spruce trees all around us and when he said Spruce I thought, aren't we already seeing a lot of those?
We stayed on the trail and ended up in Spruce Campground. Rather than back tracking we followed it our to the road to get back to the car. Remember at the beginning of this I said I would never go down the side of the road because it was too dangerous. I've said it before and I will say it again, NEVER SAY NEVER! What a funny day!

The Twilight Zone with Kris and Spencer

About 21 years ago my parents were in the process of completing construction on their house. We had to be out of the house we were renting and luckily Uncle Bus and Aunt Susan had a place for us to stay for a few weeks while the house was completed. It was Aunt Susan's parent's 3 bedroom condo.
It was such a blessing and very snug for 9 people. But I have a fond memory there with my brothers Kris and Spencer. At night on a little T.V. in the basement we watched the Twilight Zone and got spooked with episodes such as To Serve Man and another episode, I don't remember the name, but their were shoes that scared me a lot.
Now we have moved on to more sophisticated T.V. like Sister Wives and Community, but as I turned on the T.V. tonight and saw a black and white episode of the Twilight Zone I could not help but think back to a great time with my brothers. Love you guys!

Lake Mary, Martha, Catherine, and the Dog

Deah and I did more amazing hikes in Brighton today...

The first lake we stopped at was Dog Lake. It was small but very peaceful.
Lake Mary seemed low but so clear and beautiful! Deah and I had hiked to Lake Mary around 10 years ago so it was fun to see it again.

Lake Martha was so calm, we even saw some deer in the field near by.

As we continued to hike to Lake Catherine you could see both Lake Mary and Martha from above.
Lake Catherine was the final stop to a great day in the mountains. What a great hiking day!

Great Lakes in Big Cottonwood Canyon

Hiking has been well over due in my life, so today Deah and I headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon and hiked around Silver Lake, Lake Solitude, and Twin Lakes Reservoir.
The weather was beautiful and it was so great to be outside!

Lake Solitude was small and pretty.

Twin Lakes was our last stop and it was beautiful. Please disregard the crazy girl in the picture!
It was a great day and a perfect hike! I can't wait to go back and do more!
