James Naismith invented basketball as a physical education teacher for the YMCA in 1891. Basketball is now second only to soccer as most popular sport in the world.There is something to be said for non-profit and charitable organizations. A lack of funds often creates very innovative ideas.
As March Madness comes to an end I have a greater appreciation for the YMCA.
